Cold Brew Coffee Q & A

Cold Brew Coffee Recipe

How Long Should Cold Brew Sit?

How long should I let my Cold Brew steep for? Sixteen (16) hours, but don't stress. Anywhere from 14 to 24 hrs is fine. We've found the water and coffee reach an equilibrium, which slows extraction drastically towards the end.

Can You Brew Cold Brew, Too Long?

If you don't know how long to let cold brew steep, you risk steeping it too long. We don't recommend going any longer than 24 hours at room temperature because the grounds' bitterness will return, and the coffee will develop a woody or dusty taste.

Do You Brew Cold Brew In Fridge Or Room Temp?

Should I Cold Brew On The Counter Or In The Refrigerator? Either way is safe and works, but they require slightly different things from you. Cold water extracts things from the grounds more slowly than hot water. If you brew using refrigerated water, it's even colder, requiring more time.

Can I Use Cheap Coffee For Cold Brew?

You do not have to buy special coffee for cold brew. All types of coffee can be used for the cold brewing process. Although some coffee will produce better-tasting results than others, we recommend our Peacemaker Coffee Medium Roast Ground.

How Long Does Homemade Cold Brew Last?

Cold brew can be kept in your fridge. As an undiluted concentrate, it'll keep for up to two weeks, although the flavor quality will degrade after the first week. If you've cut the concentrate with water, that shortens the shelf life to a mere 2-3 days.

What DO I Use For Cold Brew?

1 - 2 quart pitcher and a reusable cold brew coffee filter bag.

How to Make Cold Brew Coffee

Ingredients

To make 1 1/2 quarts of cold brew coffee, you'll need:

The Method

1. Combine 1/2 pound ground coffee with 6 cups cold water in a large pitcher or glass jar. Let stand for 5 minutes.

2. Add remaining coffee grounds and 3 cups cold water, making sure all the grounds are wet.

3. Cover and let steep at room temperature for 14 to 16 hours or in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

How Many Times Can You Reuse Grounds For Cold Brew?

Cold brew is a little more forgiving than any hot brew because of the extraction method. This lets you reuse your beans up to two times, unlike with hot brew one and done.
